What is the chance of a woman being diagnosed with invasive breast
cancer in the next 10 years?
Women often are told the chance of getting breast cancer is 1 in 8.
This means that from birth until age 90 the chance of being diagnosed
with breast cancer is 1 in 8. The chance of getting breast cancer
increases as women get older.
The chance that a 30 year old woman will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the next 10 years is about 0.4% or about 1 of every 250 women who are 30 years old will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the next 10 years.
The chance that a 40 year old woman will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the next 10 years is about 1.5% or about 1 of every 70 women who are 40 years old will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the next 10 years.
The chance that a 50 year old women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the next ten years is about 2.4% or about 1 of every 40 women who are 50 years old will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the next 10 years.
The chance that a 60 year old women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the next 10 years is about 3.4% or about 1 of every 30 women who are 60 years old will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the next 10 years.
